one is, that two individuals in an apparently equal state of good health and in identical external surroundings may contract a chill in th e same way, and that one may suffer merely Irom an ordinary cold, while the other may be attacked by acute lobar pneumonia. The case is one that often occurs, and we explain it by saying that the individual singled out for attack by acute lobar pneumonia, had a constitutional predisposition to that disease.
